suit-up

Last friday was the first time I ever wore a jacket. Not that the situation demanded one, but I knew it wouldn’t look too odd if I did. I always loved to wear a jacket, but given that I spent most of my time in Chennai, just wearing a formal attire with leather shoe would make you like you are over-dressed for more occasions. Mostly the folks higher up in the value chain got away with the jackets and us engineer folks generally looked best in our dirty jeans and some stupid tee. ...

Relief

It feels good, sometimes, to know that you were not the only one to make certain mistakes. Or that you were not the only one in your situation. Sadistic as it may sound, I think I just got to talk to another person who shares my story. While I wish him the best in his endeavors, I wish I had known him earlier or spoke more often. For a fact, when I told a few of my friends in Cognizant that I was leaving the company to research at IITM, most of them said – “you gotta be crazy! why would you waste your life? And what can IITM give you that CTS cannot already? Just talk to your manager and get one or two onsite opportunities and you’ll be just fine!”. Sometimes I have wondered if they were correct. One Year of Singapore

It is a few days and a year since we moved to Singapore. I was reflecting on this episode of my life and I felt I missed a few points. Rohini says that happens to the place you first relocate to; She still loves Chicago better even if she agrees Singapore may be better than Chicago in some aspects. I can’t dispute because I haven’t been to the west at all. ...

Motivational Speech

That’s like the best thing that keeps happening to me. A lot of people around me, do their best to motivate me. And they do succeed for a brief while, before they have to start again. Apart from being a lucrative value proposition, I doubt if motivational speech can be of any good! Of course, it has its short term values. And perhaps some people can, by themselves, stay re-assured with what they heard. But some like me cannot. So fundamentally, the entire concept falls apart. Like my wife quips, I might need a miracle to trust in God. And I might need it quite often too! ...

Biography

So, I am running behind schedule by one post. I definitely have to catch up and fix. Or my eventual ambition of writing my biography would become a dream! Why would I write my bio? Simple, how else will the world know my existence. Why should they know? Good one. Maybe for what I am today, they are better off not knowing. But by the time I get to writing my bio, I would be someone they might as well know! ...

Nescafe Rich

The thing about the 3-in-1 Nescafe Rich instant coffee is: it smells like the perfect coffee but is really nothing better than flavored water with a lot of sugar and some coffee essence!
